My Brush Pack

So these are really the only brushes I use, period. I barely, ever, use custom weird funky brushes unless its for design purpose. I find this collection achieves exactly what I want, and haven't searched elsewhere. It's like my Holy Grail so I figured all of you digi painters could use them as well!

Now you might be like \"Why such a small list?\" I don't mean this in an arrogant way , but I can really achieve any feeling I want with these brushes, just get used to them, play with it and it'll work out! They did for me.

I have a run down below on what each brush is used for in a painting:

Brushes

Standard Brush: This is what I use to drop my basic colors when quickly slapping down what I want. I seldom use it for actual detailing, but if I need to block in thick patches I'll use this brush.

Detailing Painting Brush: My favorite brush next to the fur brush. This one is simply used to get those nooks and crannies. If I were to use the brush above for 25% of the painting, this would be the other 75%.

Lighting Brush You know all those lens flares, over bright lights, shiny glowing areas I do? This is the brush. Use it softly and you'll achieve a nice bloom in your lighting.

Detailing Lighting Brush For tinier spots, harder lighting areas.

Texture Brush: I use this brush mostly for pores, dabbles on the skin, bumpy surfaces, or just to give texture to skin in general. Works like a charm.

Hair Brush/Smudge Brush Pretty Self Explanatory. Do I start off painting hair with this brush? No, I use the Standard Painting Brush then I go over it with this brush to create the strands/etc. As for the smudging, this is my ideal color mixer when I need to blend tones, acts like a bristle brush and merges all those nice colors together to create a creamy feel.

Chalk Brush: I use this for clouds sometimes, smoke, or just patching in colors. Works better than I can explain.

Hard Ink Brush: This I use rarely, but when I do use it, it really helps. Usually for adding glare, or tight highlights on certian objects to make them pop. Like the girls earring.

Texture Brush # 2 : This one I use a lot to get nice pores, that sweaty look or just overall skin texture.

Cloud Brush #1-3: Used to paint clouds, nuff' said.

Abrams Lighting Brush: I love this brush. In my \"INSIDE THE BEAST\" image, all those lighting effects you guys talked about were used with this brush.

Speckle Brush: Used for skin again, or to dirty something up.

Debris Brush: Need to create dirt flying? Tiny bumps on a sexy leg? This is it sucka.

Fur Brush: UNF! My favorite brush. I use this for skin, fur, cloth, metal, sparks, debris, glass, anything. It's a hard shell to crack, but once you do..it's a GREAT brush.

Pore Brush: Literally my 489474th brush used for skin/pores.

Glass Brush: Used to create shattered glass, papers flying, etc.

Here’s a special treat for those more gruesome and dark artists among you. 27 fully 3D blood brushes digitally edited. All background interference has been removed allowing crazy levels of curves to be used to achieve that realistic feel.

Compatible with PS 7 and upwards

Texture Brushes

Since I know I won't have time to paint you a pretty Christmas pic this year (like the other years before), I would at least share with what I create my pictures. $\";)\"$
This is one small bunch of my selfmade custom brushes for Photoshop.

Some brushes can be a pain in the bum to use especially because their texture and style is so distinctive that changing brushes whilst painting can turn into a negative part of creating an image for the starters among the digital artists.

So I tried to create brushes that are simple to use for shading, detailing, etc.

- Select the brush tool or hit the key \"B\" to select the tool.

- Click next to the arrow of the shown brush on the upper tool bar to open the \"Brush Preset Picker\".

- click the small arrow on the right side next to where you see the pixel size.

- then select \"Load Brushes\" and choose the files.

- there you go! The brushes will be loaded underneath all your other brushes.

Arcane Circles-Symbols Brushes

Version: Photoshop 7+, Photoshop Elements 2+, GIMP 2.2.6+

A set of Photoshop brushes made up of various arcane circles and symbols. These are all original designs, made using my arcane runes (I originally made them just for myself to create this set, then figured... why not offer them on their own!) They look similar to various alchemy designs, and should have numerous uses in fantasy or anywhere you need a cool runed symbol!

Tip: Apply an outer glow to these using a strong, bright color to make them look like they're glowing like in my preview image!

Essential Illustration Brushes

This brush pack is designed as a total replacement for your current set.
Or at the very least, designed to be inserted at the top of your list of brushes as an essential starting collection.

A revamp to the old brush set I uploaded like 2 years ago. A bit has changed since then. New drawing brushes, as well as some of the old still. More essential brushes with a slightly wider variety for less fiddling with sizes. Now included are highly specialized foliage brushes I created for quick painting within my backgrounds. You've seen these brushes in action in this picture: [link]

I borrowed an organizational method here that I saw Feng Zhu use in his videos. Create numbered brushes that go at the start of each row. These number brushes are not supposed to be used. They divide the brushes into the sections seen above in the preview, that way you quickly know which section you're in while browsing in icon view. The trick, however, is that you have to resize your brush window to the correct width to place all the numbers on the left-most column.
The blank 1px brushes are merely spacers. They contain no brush data. These can always be swapped out for your own brushes you'd like to add to those sections, if you like. For me, I didn't have any extras to add, so the blank spacers had to do.

Enjoy this new set, it improves greatly on the old set while remaining easy to navigate thanks to organizing it all.

If there's ever demand for the old set, for whichever reason, I'll post it back up here in the description as a download. All the old brushes are still in this one, though, so it shouldn't be an issue.

FUR BRUSHES - PHOTOSHOP CS3

To use these brushes properly simply apply the 3 furry brushes in a clockwise motion; each follow your cursor so it can create layers and layers of fur in the same direction.

The leopard brush is a soft brush that overlaps leopard skin texture.

Light Beams + Rays Brushes

Version: Photoshop 7+, Photoshop Elements 2+, GIMP 2.2.6+

A set of Photoshop brushes made up of various light beams and rays of light. It includes beams like those from spotlights, sunlight like you would see coming through branches, lighthouse light beams, sunburst type effects (full circles as well as half and three quarters of the burst), and even some particles to add to your beams of light to make it look like floating dust. These are extremely high resolution, averaging about 2250 pixels in size.

When editing photos I think the number 1 problem I have is getting that skin texture back after doing a bunch of adjustments to faces. Really there is only a couple ways around it: bringing back the old photo to get back the organic textures or recreating the textures using filters or resources.

Now you can create realistic human skin face textures for anything. Like this Kenyan inspired face texture you too can create realistic looking faces from complete scratch only using the pen tool and these brushes. You can also use them for touching up photos that might have gotten a bit flat after editing.

My main tip is keep the opacity light and work in circular strokes and follow a lighting guide from another photo or the original so you know where your head's lighting, bone structure is etc (that is key to creating realism).
